Do you like this?

I had the privilege last night of attending a reception held before a country music concert at DPAC that raised money for the N.C. Children's Hospital.

Curtis Media Group, WQDR, KeySource Bank and Talecris Biotheraputics sponsored the event as part of the 9th annual Children’s Promise Radiothon/Telethon. Leading country music performers James Otto, Rodney Atkins, Clay Walker and North Carolina’s own Jason Michael Carroll met with folks at the VIP reception before wowing the crowd onstage.

One thing that pops out anytime I attend an event at DPAC is how many non-Durhamites are drawn to our city by the entertainment events at this crown jewel. I met a dad and daughter who'd traveled all the way from Mobile, Ala. to see the show. They, of course, were duly impressed with DPAC and what they had gotten to see of Durham.

It was a great event for a great cause, and another reminder of what an ambassador DPAC has become for Durham

With this ring, we thee wed

The Rev. Carl Kenney makes the Marry Durham event official by putting a bull ring in Frank Stasio's nose. It pinched a bit, Frank said, but well worth it.
