Do you like this?

DecJan Cover

Nothing says fall in Durham like high school football. Full of rich tradition, nostalgia and a heady mix of emotions, Friday nights are magical. Photographer Briana Brough captured all of that brilliantly in her photo essay. It's an absolute must-see.

The latest issue – on stands now – also features our annual holiday gift guide. This year, Community & Events Editor Dana Lange came up with the brilliant idea to color-coordinate the guide, with gifts in four "in" colors. She worked diligently with Editorial Assistant Iesha Brown and dozens of Durham retailers to bring you a fun and visually appealing mix of gift ideas.

We launched a new standing feature in this issue called Great Homes of Durham. And we kicked it off in style with the spectacular Hills of Rosemont home of Jack and Sally Graham. Briana's breathtaking photos are matched by a compelling story. A teaser: The Grahams had to build their dream home twice.

Thinking about getting married in Durham? Then you have to check out our annual bridal section. Senior Editor Eleanor-Scott Davis kicked it off with an engaging story about brides who had their fairy tale weddings right here in our fair city. That leads into great tips about how to have the perfect local wedding, from gorgeous flower arrangements to cool guest favors to beauty tips from local experts. Includes a handy listing of all manner of local wedding vendors.

Plus be sure to check out our feature on the Duke Diet & Fitness Center, which for 41 years has helped thousands with severe weight problems gain lives they never had.

And there's much more! But you'll have to check out the latest issue to see for yourselves.

Go to Parker & Otis, The Regulator Bookshop, Barnes & Noble stores at Southpoint and New Hope Commons, Sweets and News at Northgate Mall, Whole Foods and Sam's Quik Shop to pick up your copy.
