Ryan Kelly of Duke It wasn't anything approaching the hype surrounding LeBron "The King (with no ring)" James's "Decision" with a capital D, but there is some basketball buzz in the Bull City. The S.J.G. Greater NC Pro-Am, founded by NBA star and UNC-CH alum Jerry Stackhouse, Donyell Bryant and Chuck Jones, is in full swing. Through the summer league, professional players, college students from N.C. Central University, Duke University, UNC, N.C. State and other universities and high school all-stars play on one court — in hopes of raising each other's level of play and fostering a mentor-to-mentee environment — at N.C. Central University.
Harrison Barnes of UNCMy attempt to catch a game at NCCU's McLendon-McDougald Gymnasium was an unsuccessful one. Let this be a lesson to you all — don't arrive to the gym an hour after game time and expect to be able to find a parking space anywhere in the vicinity of campus. It won't happen. Although I missed last night's game, there's still opportunities left to catch one. Lucky for me and you the tournament runs until Aug. 1. Games are Tuesday and Thursday from 6-10pm at McDougald.
