Well, we all know which city has the tastiest eats, but we should also celebrate the fact that two North Carolina cities are neck-and-neck to win Southern Living's Tastiest Town of the South competition (although recently Memphis overtook both our cities, and we should really do something about that - vote now!).
So, to promote both our cities and encourage residents to vote, top chefs from Durham and Asheville are hosting a dinner Sunday, February 24, at Four Square Restaurant. The six-course meal is meant to celebrate the amazing food culture that makes North Carolina a great place to eat out.
Asheville chefs Jacob Sessoms of Table and Brian Canipelli of Cucina 24 will join Durham chefs Justin Rakes and Scott Martin of soon-to-open Salted Pig, Matt Kelly of Mateo and Shane Ingram of Four Square in preparing the dinner, each picking the course of their choice. The chefs will meet with guests after dinner to chat and offer up a little persuasion as to why their cities should win.
The dinner begins at 7pm and is priced at $75 per person, not including tax and gratuity. Wine pairings will be made available by Four Square sommelier Brandon Carr. Seating is limited to 75 guests, and you can make your reservations here or by calling 919-401-9877.
The South's Tastiest Town competition ends February 28, so make sure you're voting for Durham every day!
