LoMo produce

Count us as big fans of Durham's hottest farmers' market. It doesn't require a long trek in the car, strollers full of hot and tired kiddos, or even that you sacrifice time on a precious Saturday morning. Hello! You could spend that time spray painting something! No? Just me?

In fact, this LoMo Market comes right to you, or likely pretty close to you. The funny name stands for LOcal and MObile. Get it? LoMo? It's literally a farmers' market on wheels. A new kind of food truck if you will. One quick visit to the LoMo Market website will give you all the information you need to find high quality local food in a location that's convenient to your family. Current Durham locations include:

Croasdaile at 3800 Farm Gate Avenue

Woodcroft at Birchcrest Court

Trinity Park at 410 Watts Street

Treyburn at One Old Trail Drive

You'll find us waiting in line at the Woodcroft location. This week's special at our spot was Scratch Bakery items. The chocolate doughnut holes rock.

They also offer a steady variety of local cheeses, meats, herbs and veggies. We even spotted some hot sauce on board this week. This all comes at a pretty reasonable price as well. We scored a bag of doughnuts, two big tomatoes, a box of strawberries and a pound of breakfast sausage for $18. If it weren't for local food, I would have just spent this cash on gallons of ice cream or a forgotten RedBox. Needless to say, the LoMo was a good call.

This unique pairing of local indulgence with incredible convenience, tailored perfectly to families and busy professionals, is pretty ingenious and very Durham.
