Here’s a few ways to show dad how much you care, in languages he’s sure to understand (most involve food and golf):

Saturday

All proceeds benefit Durham Central Park and Liberty Arts. Durham Central Park, 501 Foster St.; $4; (919)794-8194; www.durhamcentralpark.org

Check out Bull City Burger and Brewery, OnlyBurger, Tyler’s Taproom, Bull McCabe’s, Dain’s Place or Tobacco Road for a hearty burger and beer and/or to watch a game or two. For some international flavors, try Guglhupf, Old Havana, Bavarian Brathaus or Cuban Revolution, or stick to good old-fashioned barbecue at The Original Q Shack, Blue Note Grill, Bullock’s or Hog Heaven. And you can never go wrong with the classics – Elmo’s Diner, Foster’s Market or Watts Grocery. Just make sure you get there early!
