It took way too long, but last week we finally hauled ourselves over to Franklin Street to the new and improved location of The Scrap Exchange. Part of me definitely misses the old big blue sign over the front entrance, but the new gateway to all that's crafty is just as inviting with a steel scrap pup in the grass, as well as a few colorful chairs and other art pieces to greet you.
The artist boutique in the shop is located right at the front entrance and is larger than at the previous location. The classroom area seems larger as well, with it's signature manikin legs danging over the door and Mondrian inspired walls. As usual, there is a sea of blue barrels with all sorts of scraps in them ready to be transformed. Rather than fill up a bag this time, we opted for a couple of tennis balls for our pups. Only 50 cents each from the barrel!
With many of our friends and all of our family living out of town, we've incited quite the amount of Scrap Exchange envy in various parts of the country. Apparently this is not unusual, as The Scrap Exchange has set up a Scrap-a-Gram program to share the love. If you send a self-addressed stamped envelope to The Scrap Exchange they'll fill it up with funky paper scraps and mail it back to you. What a fun way to spread the scrappy love!
