Faith's adoption fee has been reduced to $5 in honor of Adopt-A-Shelter-Cat Month and to assist her in finding a forever home, since she has been at APS since January
The kittens and cats at the Animal Protection Society of Durham need your help. For one week, from June 16-23, all cat adoption fees are lowered to $25, with a second cat adoption for only $10 when adopting the two together, a drastic reduction from the regular adoption fee of $95 for one cat and $50 for a second. Some VIK’s (Very Important Kitties) have had their fees reduced to just $5, as they have been at the shelter the longest and are in desperate need of finding their forever homes soon.
"They are wonderful cats who have proven themselves to be great companions, but for one reason or another, they’ve been overlooked," says Stephanie Kirby, volunteer coordinator at APS. "By highlighting them with a special $5 adoption fee, we hope that more people will take notice of them and see them for the amazing cats they are."
Stephanie explains that summer is known in the animal shelter world as kitten season, a time of the year when so many cats and kittens come to them that they are overwhelmed and desperately need the help of the community to find these animals homes.
"So far this month 51 cats and 73 kittens have come through our doors," Stephanie says. "In the same time period, only 15 cats and kittens have been adopted. June is national Adopt-A-Shelter-Cat Month, and we are asking the coolest town around to come and adopt [these] cool cats."
All adopted cats have had their vaccines, receive an exam, have been microchipped and spayed/neutered. If you’ve been looking to adopt, there’s no time like the present, especially with these reduced fees! Check out a few of the many cats and kittens waiting for someone to take them home here.
