A small theme may be developing in our weekly posts, and that theme is food, and us eating it. Specifically, we've had our sights set on brunch lately. Perhaps the warmer weather brings out the brunch in people.
This week's target is Watts Grocery, 1116 Broad Street. Brunch is available on both Saturday and Sunday from 11 am - 2:30 pm. They do not take reservations for just two people, but we arrived early and the wait was not too bad at all.
Here are menu all-stars to consider:
Southwestern Churros - little cinnamon doughnuts with dark chocolate sauce
Huevos Rancheros - local corn tortillas topped with avocado, red beans, queso fresco and eggs
Chicken and Goat Cheese Omelet
Bill Neal's Shrimp and Grits
Blood Orange Mimosa
In addition to the delicious food, we particularly love visiting Watts to take in the excellent art adorning the walls, which happens to be by Jeremy Kerman, husband of Watts owner Amy Tornquist.
Which reminds us: If you're so inclined after your meal, stroll over to the Craven Allen Gallery next door.
