Harris Beverages, LLC
Brewing brothers Jay and Paul Harris announced Wednesday they have merged their beverage distribution companies into Harris Beverages LLC in order to unite company operations in Durham.
Since 1975, when their father, Joe Harris, founded Harris Incorporated, the brothers have been distributing beverages across central North Carolina. Over time, however, Joe split up the company into three different organizations to cover the Durham, Chapel Hill and Henderson markets.
In 2004, the Chapel Hill and Durham corporations merged to cover the Triangle more efficiently. Jay, president of Harris Beverages LLC, believes merging with the Henderson operation will better the company's service for its clientele.
"We believe this merger will create a stronger, more sustainable company that continues to be thoroughly committed to providing our customers the best portfolio of beverages with unparalleled service," Jay said in a statement.
The company will retain employees from both Harris Incorporated headquarters. Most of the Henderson staff will now work out of Harris Beverages' Durham offices.
Harris Beverages' impressive portfolio includes Anheuser-Busch brews, local beers from Carolina Brewery and Triangle Brewing Company, Monster energy drinks and other non-alcoholic drinks. The company will continue to distribute products throughout Durham, Orange, Person, Vance, Granville, Warren and Franklin counties.
