Jerk chicken

Spicy, falling-off-the-bone jerk chicken, with a side of Southern-style green beans the way mema used to do 'em

Been meaning for a while now to check out My Sister's Kitchen, the brightly painted homestyle place that recently opened at 4716 N.C. 55, and finally was able to over the holiday break.

The small, tidy, sunbathed restaurant offers affordable breakfast and lunch favorites, from pancakes and waffles (breakfast is served all day) to burgers, jerk chicken, sandwiches, salads, wraps and homemade desserts. They trumpet the quality of their chicken wings and, while we didn't opt for them, we kind of wished we had as we saw other diners tucking into the meaty, saucy treats.

We went with some standards: a juicy cheeseburger, a mammoth chicken wrap for just $4.99 and the jerk chicken plate with two sides - and we couldn't resist a massive hunk of homemade chocolate cake for dessert. (Click on the slideshow for pics!)

Simple fare, for sure, but everything was really tasty, and the service was especially friendly.

Let us know your thoughts if you ever go check it out!
