North Carolina Central University will have a new chancellor come Friday. The announcement is expected during the University of North Carolina Board of Governors meeting Feb. 8 in Chapel Hill at approximately 11 or 11:30am.
The anticipated news is scheduled to be broadcast live via Internet video streaming in B.N. Duke Auditorium on NCCU's campus, which will be open to the public at 10am when the board meeting begins. The announcement also will be broadcast on Channel 30, NCCU’s closed-circuit television station.
A 19-member search committee has been working since August 2012 to help identify a successor for Charlie Nelms, former chancellor of NCCU, who retired in July. Retired Judge Charles L. Becton has been serving as interim chancellor since August.
A reception for the chancellor-elect will follow that afternoon at 3:30pm in W.G. Pearson Cafeteria’s Banquet Hall. Open parking will be available in the Latham Parking Deck located at 705 E. Lawson St.
