PBteen

Nancy Guettier, PBteen's SVP of Visual and Product Design and tour guide extraordinaire, sits under a Sleep and Study Loft

No need for your teenagers to continue circling their dream décor and furniture items in the catalogs. PBteen is opening up shop this Saturday at The Streets at Southpoint.

The store is only one of seven that PBteen has opened nationwide, and its first in North Carolina. The closest store to the Durham location is in Atlanta.

Like the catalogs, the store offers lifestyle vignettes of how the products would look set up in a teenager’s room. But the in-store experience allows customers to view the detailing close-up and test out the comfort or use of décor and furniture items.

The Design Lab in the middle of the store allows teens and their parents to plug in the dimensions of their room at home into a computer and add elements with the help of onsite design specialists. Physical swatches of wood, fabrics and colors allow for easy mixing and matching, and the whole process is displayed on big-screen TVs so parents and friends can easily give their input.

The store opens with PBteen’s new holiday 2012 collection, including gadgets for guys and girls, fur-inspired bedding and lounge seating, jewelry and beauty storage and accessories, as well as the recently launched Burton home collection.

PBteen’s grand opening weekend features live music from a D.J., as well as product giveaways. The first 250 customers to check in on Facebook at the store or create a Wishlist in the Design Lab receive a free PBteen back sack. Five of those back sacks contain a $250 gift card.

Take a look through the slideshow from our preview tour of the store, and head over to Southpoint between 10am and 9pm this Saturday to check out PBteen’s opening celebration.
