In addition to Shepherd's Pie and other Irish fare, Bull McCabe's has rotating food and drink specials. Check their Facebook or Twitter for daily updates.
The Irish pub can’t take credit for this gorgeous weather, but they certainly do their best to enhance it.
As the season shifts to fall and we’re allotted these few weeks when the temperatures can only be described as “nice,” it would be criminal not to try to take in every last mild drop of it. Taking your meals outside is almost necessary this time of the year, and many restaurants in Durham boast fine patio seating – but few will give you a lawn.
Bull McCabe’s acquired the green space beside their restaurant just in time for St. Patrick’s Day last March, and it’s been a pleasant spot throughout the spring and summer, especially with the sun setting behind the building, throwing cool shade over the lawn during the second half of the day.
It adds more picnic-table seating to their cozy patio section directly in front of the restaurant, and who wouldn’t want to enjoy a cold Mother Earth Dark Cloud while feeling crisp blades of grass between their toes? (It helps to come wearing sandals.) There’s no wait service for the lawn, but you simply put in your food or drink order at the bar – I recommend the veggie burger and a good North Carolina seasonal, like the aforementioned Dark Cloud – then carry your fare out to the tables. Sure, you have to go back inside for refills, but it’s totally worth it.
