Stuff We Like is our new Web series. Every Friday, we'll share an event, a place, a dish, a drink or just something random that the editors love here at Durham Magazine.
Sometimes I worry that I’m skirting my responsibilities as an adult by not buying real glassware, and instead building my inventory solely with pint glasses from Tyler’s. Then, I make one of my student loan payments, and realize that if there’s an opportunity to own necessary kitchenware just by buying a beer, I’m all for it.
Pint nights at the Durham Tyler’s location are Wednesdays beginning at 5pm (Apex’s are on Mondays, and Carrboro’s and Raleigh’s are on Tuesdays). This past Wednesday, New Hampshire’s Smuttynose Brewing Co.’s Pumpkin Ale and IPA were the featured drafts, and since y’all already know my love for pumpkin beers based on last week’s post (I promise that there’s other stuff I like besides beer!), I figured it wouldn’t hurt to add one more pint glass to my collection.
I tossed back my pumpkin ale along with some of Tyler’s Bleu Cheese Chips while watching the Rays beat the Orioles on one of the giant TVs behind Tyler’s bar. It was an indulgent pat on the back for getting through half of the workweek, which I relished. And to top it off, I got to leave with a pint glass embellished with a picture of a cute little harbor seal. (I realize I just destroyed any cool factor I had going before that last sentence, but whatever. Seals are adorable.)
Follow Tyler’s on Facebook and Twitter for updates on pint night beers and other events at all their locations.
