Girasole

Girasole (sunflower) Vineyards is a venture by the Barra family of Mendocino County. The wine is certified organic and comes from the area where the mouth of the Russian River drains. If you've had mediocre results when trying organic bottlings, Girasole will put you on the right track at a very fair price.

2010 Pinot Noir, Girasole Vineyards, Mendocino County $16 srp

Pale, beet-tinged color. An outgoing meaty ripe nose greets you, with cranberry and black raspberry elements and something I can only describe as brambly cola. Crisp flavors of tart cherry are very refreshing and the finish is clean and uplifting. A great "livin' is easy" wine for grilled poultry, veggie kebobs or casual sipping.
