Bull City Bucket List
Offline Media, a Durham-based graduate of the Triangle StartUp Factory that challenges people to be active in their community and promotes unique businesses and experiences in the Triangle, just released its official Bull City Bucket List.
To market the Bucket List experiences it promotes, Offline developed a social-media fueled contest. Offline Co-Founder David Brower believes that since most people process information visually, photos are the best way to capture and share experiences. With social media, these experiences become easily communicable and accessible to the community.
“The contest became an excellent way for people to actually channel their desire to [be active in their city] in an extremely gratifying way,” David says. The downtown Raleigh Bucket List Contest began in May and has seen great success with more than 500 contestants. Offline has enjoyed seeing participation grow and submissions evolve and businesses have embraced the attention the contest brings.
Offline is now replicating the contest in Durham and has chosen 10 experiences based on suggestions it received from the public. The list includes a tour at Triangle Brewing, visiting a Durham historic site, eating a doughnut at Rise and more. The contest begins July 17 and runs through September 4.
David envisions Durham as an ideal city for the contest and expects the Durham community to latch on quickly and enthusiastically. Offline has adapted the contest for Durham's culture, and looks forward to engaging with other cities in the future. The company has added a brand around Durham's Bucket List Contest, making it easier to promote and recognize, and - after requests from Raleigh - opportunities to earn bonus points. Like the Raleigh List, the Durham List spans the entire city, intentionally crossing demographics to encourage participants to engage in experiences that may be outside of their norm.

2. Complete a Bucket List item and photograph your experience
3. Upload your photo to Twitter and/or Instagram with the hashtag #BCBucketList and tag @BCBucketList (You can still submit photos if you don't have accounts - check out the contest page for more information.)
The best photos will be posted on Offline's Bull City Bucket List Contest page and participants will gain points towards prizes with each item they check off their Bucket List. The initial prizes include gift cards, a pint glass and entry into raffles for bigger prizes. More will be added as the contest goes on.
