Rustic chic is definitely the trend nowadays - from French-striped fabrics to burlap to reclaimed wood to old iron fixtures. Lately you'll find this trend paired with another Southern staple: the monogram. This is particularly common on pillows. We've seen couple's initals, anniversary dates, you name it, all gracing high-end home furnishing catalogs and design magazines.
The good news is we've figured out an easy way to knock off your own. All you need is a little fabric paint and some freezer paper-turned-stencil kit.
Step One: Find the item that you would like to stencil and lay a protective layer of cardboard or paper underneath it to collect any paint that might seep through the fabric. Recently we used a tan burlap fabric to sew into a pillow. It's the perfect way to get a rustic look at it's amazingly affordable at $3.99 a yard.
