The Mary Chambers Cancer Foundation hosts its Dance & Walk 4 Cancer at Northgate Mall, 1058 W. Club Blvd., next Saturday, August 11. The mall opens at 7am and the event takes place from 8-10am.
“Mary Chambers, my grandmother, succumbed to cancer in 1996,” says Edward Chambers, director of the Mary Chambers Cancer Foundation. “In memory of her strength and courage, I chose to fuel the energy of her legacy by giving back to those who are struggling with this debilitating illness.”
Hundreds of people will walk from the front of Endivo Hair Salon and complete five one-mile laps of the mall. All proceeds support the Mary Chamber Cancer Foundation as it helps to pay the insurance premiums and co-pays of cancer patients as prioritized by the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
“We have seen times where cancer victims have to make the choice of paying a light bill or paying co-payments for treatment - not having the luxury of paying both. Therefore, we are raising funds to assist people with insurance premiums and co-payments,” Edward says.
