History museum brochure

The Hub features directions to landmarks, a booth for people to listen to and record their own oral history, and a kids' play area

It’s Third Friday in Durham again, meaning gallery crawls galore. Before you hop on over to Golden Belt, Bull City Arts Collaborative, LabourLove, The Scrap Exchange or Mercury Studio, stop by the new home of The Museum of Durham History at 500 W. Main St. for the History Hub’s Open House from 6-10pm.

The Museum of Durham History has been preparing exhibit plans, renderings of which will be on display on the walls and windows with a Post-it note feedback system in place to gather ideas and suggestions from visitors.

Come out and enjoy live music by the Blue Tailed Skinks and folk duo Quiet the Voices, pizza from Pie Pushers and popsicles from Locopops. The Museum will provide light munchies, free Locopops to the first 100 visitors and one free local brew from either Fullsteam, Triangle Brewing Co. or Bull City Burger and Brewery.

A further incentive: Those who drop by receive a 15% food discount coupon to Alivia’s and James Joyce, and folks who become Museum members will be entered in a drawing for two free tickets to a Casbah show of their choice. All in all, a great way to celebrate Durham’s past and present.
