Urinetown

This weekend, PlayMakers Repertory Company presents the Tony Award-winning show, Urinetown: The Musical, starring a group of outrageously talented high school students in its Summer Youth Conservatory Theatre Intensive program. If you’re looking for something fun to share with your family and friends, look no further than this hilarious musical treat! The show runs July 19-21 at 7:30pm and July 22 at 2pm at PlayMakers’ Paul Green Theatre.

Urinetown: The Musical is an uproariously funny and earnest tale of love, greed and revolution set in a time when water is worth its weight in gold. Twenty years of disastrous drought have led to draconian water restrictions. Citizens are forced to use public, pay-per-use facilities operated by Urine Good Company. What happens if the people rebel? Find out in this outrageously hilarious show! Inspired by the works of Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill, Urinetown: The Musical is an irreverent satire in which no one is safe from scrutiny, a comedic romp with wickedly modern wit.

Audiences and critics alike give Urinetown: The Musical rave reviews:

"Elevated silliness of the highest order" - Newsday

"Hilarious!" - The New York Times

"the most brilliant of all contemporary musicals" - The Austin Chronicle

And, the Chicago Tribune says “You gotta go!”
