Cheeks flushed and pulse pounding? Butterflies in your stomach? Discover the science behind feelings of love at this AfterHours event on July 17 at the Museum of Life and Science. Attendees can explore a wide variety of attractive forces, from electromagnetism to the birds and the bees. As with all AfterHours events, adults ages 21 and older have the chance to explore the museum and hang out with friends - without the kids. Guests receive a free drink ticket with the cost of admission, and there will be food trucks on-site, a DJ and lots of cold Triangle Brewing Co. beer to go around.

American Dance Festival

American Dance Festival

The 81st season features 50 performances by 24 companies and choreographers
from around the globe, including France, Ireland, Israel and South Africa. The season
also includes ADF’s second co-presentation with the Nasher Museum of Art at
Duke University
and an ADF exclusive performance, On Their Bodies, by four of
today’s leading choreographers: Ronald K. Brown, Stephen Petronio, Doug Varone
and Shen Wei. The festival presents 12 ADF debuts, 10 world premieres and two U.S.
premieres June 12-July 26, with performances taking place at DPAC, Reynolds Industries Theater, the Nasher and Durham Arts Council’s PSI Theatre.

N.C. Gay and Lesbian Film Festival

 The second largest gay, lesbian and transgender film festival in the Southeast attracts thousands of patrons yearly. The festival, produced by The Carolina Theatre on August 15-24, has brought the community together to share entertaining and sophisticated films that allow audience members a worldwide glimpse of today’s gay and lesbian life.
